Hello,
Iranian people (people who speak Farsi also known as Persian) could understand multiple Esperanto words because of Farsi's close ties to the Germanic languages, Latin and other languages. For example: the word for family in Farsi is pronounced "faw-mil" the word in Esperanto for family is" familio" one can equally say that the word for family in Esperanto actually came from Farsi(Persian). Farsi like many other Asian languages is a Indo-European language and has certain ties with European languages (as already mentioned).
